Dogs on Sylt

No matter what kind, dalmatian, poodle or bulldog – dogs will love Sylt just as much as you do.

The island offers 17 designated „dog beaches“ from north to south. So one's own „four paws“ will encounter lots of company: dog and master can romp around in the sand and waves to their heart's content here. You can choose from an extensive offer of accommodations: many landlords on Sylt have made special arrangements for the needs of four-legged guests. It is best to discuss your wishes beforehand. You will find animal-friendly hosts in the Sylt accommodation directory and in the online list of hosts. Your dog might not be able to accompany you during every activity (spending time in the sauna or island sightseeing flights are certainly not every dog's thing...), the animal home in Tinnum gladly takes care of your pet for a few hours.

In order to avoid conflicts it's important to acknowledge and pay attention to the specific rules that apply elsewhere as well – and since particularly off-leash dogs and their excrements annoy other guests, as a dog owner it is your responsibility to take care of your dog and set the base for a harmonious cooperation: take advantage of the free dog waste bags that are positioned by the trash bins. Leave behind nothing but your footprints.

Holidays wit a handicap

You have special requirements? No worries, the rest of us have them too. But yours are even more special? In that case the island is well prepared, on the beach as well as in terms of accommodations, restaurant and service.

Getting most of the necessary information beforehand will ease the organisational phase and prevent unnecessary stress. In order for you to enjoy the diversity the island has to offer, during the past years Sylt has continuously improved the range of offerings for travellers with disabilities. Many landlords throughout the island provide accommodations adapted to the needs of the disabled. Restaurant owners from all walks of life focus on accessibility, and the range of medical services is abundant. Cruising over the beach no longer has to be a frustrating hustle – with our specially designed beach wheel chairs with „off road wheels“ you'll be able to freely enjoy every beach on the island. However, if in any case something unforeseen might cross your way, don't worry, the natives living on Sylt are very relaxed and helpful!
